You don’t need to disconnect. Our solar panel has overcharge protection circuitry built into the panel, prevent reverse charging.
Most cars can be charged with a cigarette lighter when the engine is turned off. When it is found that the cigarette lighter can not be used to recharge the battery. You can use alligator clips and cables to connect directly to the battery.
In full sunlight, the solar panel shows a red light. Connect the battery, and turn green. If there are no lights, check the polarity.
It is a trickle charger that keeps the voltage from dropping or recharging the battery, but it is not a fast charger and cannot charge a dead battery. Please use the AC charger to fully charge the battery before using the solar panel.
